This state agency came into existence on July 1, 2005, headed by the State Chief Information Officer, appointed by the Governor and a member of the Cabinet.

Two former divisions of the Minnesota Department of Administration, the Minnesota Office of Technology and the InterTechnologies Group, were merged into the new agency.

According to the press release announcing the appointment of the state CIO, July 25, 2005, the agency starts existence "with a budget of $83 million and staff of over 300. Minnesota state government is estimated to spend $600 million per year on information technology through 66 different agencies, 1,000 networks and operates over 500 websites."

"The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) provides leadership and resources to reduce crime, improve the functioning of the criminal justice system and assist crime victims. To accomplish this, OJP administers grants; provides training and technical assistance; provides research and data; works to protect crime victims' rights; and provides reparations benefits to victims of violent crime."

"Provide[s] Minnesotans information on issues related to prescription medicine, safety and cost-saving tips, and programs to help low-income Minnesotans pay for prescription medications ... and with information about accessing lower-cost prescription medicine from Canada."

"The Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) is an independent tribunal within the executive branch. The OAH has three divisions; Administrative Law, Workers' Compensation and Municipal Boundary Adjustments. OAH judges conduct hearings, conferences and mediations when a state or local law provides the right to challenge a government action through an administrative hearing. OAH strives to provide all parties to a matter, a full and fair opportunity to challenge those actions. Additionally, OAH provides injured workers, their employers, and workers' compensation insurers with prompt and impartial resolutions of claims for workers' compensation benefits.
